Mike Horn Embarks on a Journey with the Mercedes-Benz G-Class

Famous modern day explorer Mike Horn embarks on a journey that would take him around the globe. He ceremoniously started his trip in the opening day of the New York Auto Show on March 23. The expedition has been dubbed as “Pole2Pole.”
As the name of the trip implies, the aim of the journey would be to circumnavigate the globe via its two poles. Horn uses the Mercedes-Benz G-Class to conquer most of the terrain while his sailing boat called “PANGAEA” will take care of his trip above deep waters. Some of the distance will be covered by foot and skis too.
The actual journey takes off in Europe. From there, he will travel to Africa, Antarctic, Oceania, Asia, Arctic, and North America. After the last leg, he will make his trip back to Europe.
According to Daimler, the purpose of the expedition is to explore culture and nature in the remote parts of the world. In addition, the goal of the adventure is to for Horn to share his learning and experiences with the people he will come across.

Horn has had close links with Mercedes since 2008. The bond was formed during his PANGAEA expedition that period. Among his other accomplishments were navigating the Amazon River by himself and without support, walking in the North Pole during the dark season, and going around the equator without using motorized transport.
