E250 BlueTec Takes Its North American Debut during the NY Auto Show
Carlo Adrian Canon December 14, 2012Mercedes has bigger plans for E250 BlueTec engine’s future in the United States and in April, it was given its North American presentation during the Auto Show held in New York.
It is powered by the same 2.1-liter four cylinder diesel engine with Selective Catalytic Reduction exhaust technology and despite the downsizing from 6 to 4 cylinder diesel, it will still have the same power ratings with 190 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Although it can be considered as a mild downgrade, it is still assumed to cause a substantial strike in fuel efficiency.
Even though it is not yet determined if the ML350 Bluetec’s diesel six will be removed, Mercedes will include similar engine in its ML-Class SUV just like the E-Class. As gas prices continually rise up, luxury brand cars like Mercedes are being mandated to improve fuel efficiency that will meet the strictest global emission standards to make them the cleanest diesel across many countries in the world.
