Stash of Custom Mercedes-Benz Unimog Trucks Discovered in Colorado
Giancarlo Perlas June 2, 2021The Mercedes-Benz Unimog may be sporting the three-pointed star emblem, but there is nothing luxurious about it. It is as rugged as it gets, and it can plow through obstacles that normal SUVs or trucks couldn’t. The auto can conquer uneven terrains and up to 8 feet of water, thanks to its marvelous engineering.
The Unimog is a special kind of truck though because it is not just for delivering payload. It can be used as an alternative to the standard pickup truck like what Arnold Schwarzenegger did. The vehicle’s highly-customizable architecture makes it such a darling to tuners too as we have seen it transformed into all kinds of crazy like a massive mobile fortress, a heavy duty camper, and an army truck over the years.
If you just can’t get enough of the Merc truck, Andre Smirnov of TFLoffroad brings us to an amazing Unimog collection in Colorado. The rigs can be found in the factory/warehouse of Couch Off-Road Engineering.
The company has been in operation for two decades already, so the units featured here are just a few samples of their work. One of the Unimogs shown in the video is the Bam Bam 1785 U1700 model that was the garage’s entry to the punishing Breslau Rallye. The presenter claims that the truck “accidentally” jumped up to 80 feet at 53 mph during the race and it still worked when it landed because of its well-built suspension.
Another Unimog that also caught our eyes was the 6×6 expedition build of the specialist. The company claims that it has been used to travel overseas for seven years.
