New Mercedes-Benz EQT Electric Van Concept Teased

Giancarlo Perlas April 24, 2021

Mercedes-Benz is surely taking its entry into the electric vehicle market seriously. Still fresh from the official debut of the Mercedes-Benz EQS, the German automaker is already teasing its Mercedes-Benz EQT concept.

According to the Global Media Site of Daimler, the EQT will be unveiled at the company’s Mercedes Me Media digital platform and several social media channels on May 10 at 11:00 AM CEST. The EV will serve as a forerunner to the planned Mercedes-Benz T-Class due next year.

The event will be hosted by the skateboarding legend Tony Hawk. An event that grand already speaks a lot about the EQT. That means it will not only be just a commercial utility van. The press release of the company says that it is primarily designed to accommodate “families and leisure active private customers”.

With that in mind, the EQT promises the same level of detailing found in Mercedes luxury cars. It will feature the company’s “Sensual Purity” design philosophy that integrates cleaner and smoother exterior design with organic-looking creases replacing the rigid character lines found on the previous generation of Mercedes vans, cars and SUVs. Meanwhile, the “EQ” within the name of the van tells us that it will be electric powered.

We are yet to learn about the powertrain of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz EQT, but what we know so far is that it will ride on the same platform as the third-generation Renault Kangoo. The new Kangoo ZE is equipped with a 44 kWh battery with 159 miles max electric range based on WLTP figures, so that should be the least that we can expect from it.
