Giancarlo Perlas July 22, 2020The Mercedes-Benz Vito may not have the same luxurious status as the cars and sport utility vehicles of the three-pointed star marque, but it is a very versatile van. It can be fully optimized as a passenger or delivery van. It can even be turned into a massive home on wheels. Recently, the vehicle received a minor facelift as well as some new mechanical and technological upgrades.
Aside from its thinner headlamps and taillamps, the new Vito retained much of the key exterior elements of its predecessor. Customers can choose their van based on a selection of new colors, three available lengths, two wheelbases, and three drive systems. Taking the upper trim models add chrome inserts and 17- to 19-inch wheels.
The standard equipment of the new Vito includes cruise control, automatic emergency braking, anti-theft protection, and reverse camera. It also comes with smartphone integration via the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Throw in some more cash and it can be upgraded to get satellite navigation, heated seats, and LED lights.
The Vito is available in 110 CDI, 114 CDI, 116 CDI, and 119 CDI trims carrying 2.0-liter inline-four diesel engines with outputs of 102 hp, 136 hp, 163 hp, and 190 hp. Then, it is offered in front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, and 4×4 drive systems. The power is distributed in either a six-speed manual or nine-speed automatic transmission.
The new products of the range now include an all-electric model aptly named the Mercedes-Benz eVito Tourer. The electric motor of the van has a peak output of 204 hp that goes to a front-wheel-drive system. The motor is powered by a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery that has an electric range of 421 km at full charge.
