New Spy Shots of 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLB45 Come Out
Giancarlo Perlas July 10, 2019After the unveiling of the Mercedes-Benz GLB compact crossover SUV a month ago, its high-performance version appears to be on its way. Recently, spy shots of the Mercedes-AMG GLB45 surfaced online.
The spy photos from Motor1 show the AMG GLB45 in partial camouflage. As the norm, the covered areas indicate the changes between the standard GLB model and the AMG model. With that, expect a sportier front bumper with lip spoiler, side sills, wider fenders, rear diffuser and rear spoiler in the high-performance version of the SUV.
The exhausts of the prototype are exposed, and we can see that Mercedes went for the tubular tailpipes instead of the trapezoidal-shaped ones for the AMG GLB45. Meanwhile, although covered in camo, the front of the auto will certainly get the Panamericana grille design.
According to the source, the AMG GLB will have come in three versions. There’s the GLB45 seen the spy shots and GLB45 S trim. A GLB35 is also underway. Basically, the compact crossover will follow the offerings of the AMG A-Class.
A 2.0-liter biturbo inline-four will sit beneath the hood of the AMG GLB45. Like the AMG A45, it will have an output of 382 hp. The more potent AMG GLB45 S is estimated to net 416 hp under its mill. The power of the AMG GLB45 will be distributed by an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. It will have a rear-biased all-wheel-drive system as well as a Drift Mode. In a nutshell, Drift Mode makes it easier and safer for the crossover to do sideways action when on the track.
