Mercedes-AMG A45 Spied with Right-Hand-Drive Configuration

Giancarlo Perlas July 22, 2018

After seeing the Mercedes-AMG A45 in the U.S., the hot hatch was also spotted while undergoing testing in a public road. This time, the car is can be seen with a right-hand-drive configuration. It could only mean that countries like the U.K., Australia, and other countries that use the right-hand drive are getting the high-performance compact car.

Based on what appears to be vertical slats on the front grille of the auto plus its quadruple exhausts, new side skirts, and reworked front bumper, we are certainly looking at the AMG version of the A-Class. The most likely candidate for the car’s trim is the AMG A45. However, the source of the video suggests that the subject could be the AMG A50 too.

The AMG A50 is presumably the successor of the AMG A45. It is possible also that Mercedes will retain the AMG A45 while making the AMG A50 the most powerful variant of the A-Class. This is something that we can only confirm when the German automaker makes an official statement about it in the future.

It should be noted that the starting lineup of the AMG A-Class will feature the A35 model. The car is estimated to carry a 2.0-liter turbo inline-four engine with over 300 hp. Meanwhile, the AMG A45 will get more than 400 hp.

The Mercedes-AMG A45 or the A50 is expected to arrive in the first half of 2019. There are rumors that its maker is developing a hybrid version of the A45 as well, and it is coming in 2020.
