The 2020 Mercedes GLE Coupe was Spied for the First Time

Giancarlo Perlas June 28, 2018

As the much-awaited Mercedes-Benz GLE nears its official unveiling, its compact sibling, the Mercedes GLE Coupe, was recently seen in the open while undergoing testing.

A new video uploaded by walkoART on Youtube shows the next Mercedes GLE Coupe heavily-wrapped in zebra camouflage. The source said that the video was shot on the streets of Germany.

New Features of the Next Mercedes GLE Coupe

It is still hard to make out what’s under the covers of the new GLE Coupe but we can see that it is carrying a new front bumper design with a more prominent lip spoiler. The same treatment is also found on the rear bumper. The headlamps of the upcoming compact sport utility vehicle also appear to be thinner than its predecessor.

Overall, the prototype follows the roofline and shape of the current GLE Coupe. However, the upcoming vehicle is expected to offer a little extension on the wheelbase compared to its present model in order to provide more legroom for its passengers.

What’s Up with the Odd Wheel?

A closer look at the camo-clad GLE Coupe reveals that it is running on mismatched wheels. The three wheels of the auto all come in a stainless finish while the wheel fitted beside the left rear-passenger door has a black finish. The black wheel is probably a spare because it seems smaller than the rest.

Possible Debut of the New Mercedes GLE Coupe

We look forward to the debut of the 2019 GLE SUV at the end of 2018. So, the new GLE Coupe’s world premiere will likely happen in 2019, and it will be sold bearing a 2020 model year badge.
