Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury: Top 5 Features, Photos, Video

The Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury has finally been unveiled at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show. As expected, it is indeed a sport utility vehicle, but with a twist.

Here are 5 things you need to know about the new Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury based on the press release of Daimler and interviews of key Mercedes personalities during the major motor show in China:

1. Exterior

Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer at Daimler AG described the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury concept as a combination of an SUV and a saloon. He said that the auto is influenced by the cultures of the Western and Far Eastern hemispheres.

The traces of a notchback saloon on the SUV concept’s exterior is an adaptation of the most successful body styles for autos internationally and in the Chinese market. Most of all, it is currently the most revolutionary interpretation of Mercedes’ Sensual Purity design philosophy.

The Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury carries many visuals found in the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 that was showcased in 2016. The front grille, front bumper and the lights are all too similar with the older concept luxury car.

Being an SUV, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury has a high ride height. Then, it distances itself from the conventional design of modern SUVs by featuring a saloon-type rear trunk. Another attention-grabbing detail on the vehicle’s exterior is its 24-inch wheel with rims inspired by jet turbines as well as a two-piece panoramic roof.

The product measures 5,260 mm in length, 2,110 in width and 1,764 mm in height.

2. Interior

The Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury combines sportiness and opulence pushed farther than what we have seen in other Mercedes-Maybach vehicles. High-grade leather and wood adorn its surfaces.

The main colors used in the SUV’s cabin are crystal white, rose gold and pearl grey. The aluminum highlights also add to its interior’s striking appeal.

Staying true to its name, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury has many exciting, high-profile amenities. The front portion of the auto has free-standing Widescreen Cockpit with twin 12.3-inch displays. The air vents also copy the grille design of the vehicle.

The first thing that will probably catch your eyes when going to the rear passenger area of the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury is its ebony tray complete with teapot, cups and heating system. The other basic elements found in the ultra-luxurious SUV are from the latest Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. These include the super-soft cushions, and the ENERGIZING comfort control that manages the fragrancing, heating, lighting, music and climate control of the vehicle.

Overall, the interior design of the concept SUV is geared towards chauffeur-driven individuals. That’s why the best features of the auto have been placed at the rear passenger area.

4. Engine

Like the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury is conceived as an electric vehicle. It has four compact, permanent-magnet, synchronous motors matched to an all-wheel drive setup.

The overall output of the luxury SUV is 550 kW or 750 hp. There are no details about its 0-100 km/h acceleration yet but its top speed can reach up to 250 km/h.

The unit is equipped with a battery located in its underfloor. It has a capacity of 80 kWh. Its electric range is over 500 km based on NEDC numbers, and 200 miles according to EPA figures.

The battery can be charged through a cable at public charging facilities or induction via the electromagnetic field under the SUV. With only a five-minute charge, the auto can already cover a range of up to 100 km. That’s thanks to its DC charging that utilizes CCS standard, which allows a capacity of up to 350 kW.
