Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Coming in Monterey on Thursday
Giancarlo Perlas August 16, 2016A week ago, Mercedes-Maybach teased an image of a new concept car. Recently, another teaser photo of it was revealed together with the name of the vehicle and its scheduled official unveiling.
According to the Facebook page of Mercedes-Benz, the concept car will be called the “Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6.” The vehicle will debut on August 18, 2016 at Pebble Beach in Monterey County, California.
So what’s in the name?
“Vision” indicates that the car is a concept model. “Mercedes-Maybach” is the brand of the auto, which means it will belong in the ultra-luxurious hierarchy of the three-pointed star brand. The number “6” in the name of the vehicle represents its length in meters.
Based on the new photo of the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6, it definitely has a strong resemblance with the Mercedes-AMG GT. Small traces of the Maybach Exelero could be observed in the picture as well.
Compared to the AMG GT, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 displays narrow headlights, closely-knit vertical grille, and very thin side mirrors. In addition, the circular ornament bearing the Mercedes-Benz logo is no longer located in the middle of the grille. Instead, the three-pointed star marque now sits above the hood the car similar to the traditional Mercedes executive cars. A Maybach badge is also prominent in the uppermost portion of the grille.
It is worth noting that Autoblog has an interesting theory about the super thin mirrors found on the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6. The source said they might be cameras.
