Weistec Mercedes-AMG GT S Sets New World Record
Giancarlo Perlas October 19, 2015Weistec recently showed off the potentials of its tuned Mercedes-AMG GT S. A video that the specialist released via YouTube claimed that the car was able to set a new world record.
The more than a minute clip of the tuner showed the Mercedes undergoing a back-to-back quarter-mile test. During its first run, the car set the record of 10.9 seconds for the whole stretch while logging a maximum speed of 126.09 mph. The second run covered the distance in just 10.8 seconds at 126.25 mph, which was its best record. Weistec said its best time was actually a world record.
Based on the tuner, among the key features of the car were the ECU upgrade, installation of high flow air filters, integration of VTA adapter system, and fitting a downpipe midpipe.
The specialist noted that the ECU upgrade provides the M178 power unit of the car an additional 118 hp and 134 wheel torque at peak gains. Then it removes the max speed limit of the car, it improves the throttle response plus it optimizes fuel, spark, and boost. This is available for $2,950.
The air filter set also contributes in enhancing the response of the car, air flow, and it optimizes the performance of the ECU tune. This only costs $249.99.
Lastly, the combination of a downpipe and midpipe upgrade starts at $4,249.99. Again, when partnered with the ECU boost of the car, it amplifies its power by allowing a better exhaust flow. The pipe gives the car an improved exhaust noise too, as can be heard in the video.
