When Mercedes-Benz said that it will ramp up its SUV lineup, we got the GLE, GLC and the upcoming GLS together with their coupe counterparts. The G-Class also received a 4×4² model as replacement to the massive 6×6. However, according to an interview of Australia’s Drive website with Mercedes-Benz executives, it was hinted that there are more to come.

Matthias Luehrs, the vice president of sales and product management of the company, commented that they are looking at everything in the SUV niche. So does that mean we will be seeing an SUV wagon soon that will compete with the Audi A4 Allroad, Audi A6 Allroad and Volvo XC70? It is possible.

Recently, TopSpeed made a rendering of what the 2018 Mercedes-Benz SUV wagon might look like. As seen above, the artist of the automotive news provider combined the designs of the C-Class and E-Class wagons complete with their signature grille, headlights, bumpers and body lines. The source also incorporated some of the styling elements found on the Allroad variants of the Audi A4 and A6. One could see a bit of likeness between the frame of the rendered Mercedes and the latest Subaru Outback too.

Right now, it is hard to imagine what Mercedes-Benz will do to its supposed SUV wagon variant, or if it is even considering about making one since it already has the GLC and GLE. For now, all we have to do is wait and see.
