The Mercedes-AMG GT S and the Tesla Model S P85D. Which one will win in a drag race?

So far, we have seen the Mercedes-AMG GT S take on its bitter rival, the Porsche 911 GTS, in a 400-meter drag race. The Mercedes ended up feeding dust to its competition. Now what happens when it takes on a more powerful car, which is the Tesla Model S P85D?

The Mercedes-AMG GT S is equipped with a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine under its hood, delivering up to 503 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. It’s a powerful machine indeed. However, the Tesla Model S P85D is no pushover.

The Tesla car boasts a 691 hp and 686 lb-ft of torque, thanks to its twin electric motors. Then all its power are sent to all four wheels compared to the mere rear-wheel drive architecture of the GT S.

Given the specs of the two, how will they fare against each other in a drag race? Check out the video below to find out:

The Result (Spoiler Alert!)

The twin electric motors of the Tesla Model S P85D immediately went to work early in the race, giving it a starting advantage. But after a few seconds, the internal combustion system of the Mercedes-AMG GT S kicked in. In the end, the Mercedes overtook the Tesla for the win.

The other factor that also played a crucial part in the race was the lighter weight of the GT S. As indicated in the video, the P85D weighed 4,900 pounds while the GT S was only 3,756 heavy.
