2016 Mercedes-Benz C350e Debuts in the Geneva Motor Show
Giancarlo Perlas March 4, 2015The 2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman definitely garnered the most attention in the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Well, it was as expected because of the ultra-luxurious aura emanating from the limo. However, its automaker, proving itself as the “best of both worlds”, also launched a super eco-friendly car. That is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz C350e Plug-In Hybrid.
Basically, the 2016 Mercedes-Benz C350e Plug-In Hybrid is a union of the dynamism and comfort offered by the C-Class with the brand’s hybrid technology that adds fuel-efficiency and low carbon dioxide emission to the mix.
Powered by the combination of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with a powerful electric motor, the vehicle can deliver an overall output of 279 hp and 600 Nm. It should be noted that the electric power unit is responsible for the 80 hp while the rest is handled by the petrol-run engine.
The power of the Mercedes C350e is distributed to the rear wheels through a 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic gearbox. The saloon version of the auto has a sprint from zero to 62 miles per hour just 5.9 seconds while the touring variant takes only 6.2 seconds. The top speed of each type is at 155 mph and 153 mph, respectively.
Going on full-electric power alone, the car can go the distance of 19 miles. This can be charged in the usual 240V/13A household power source. The estimated charging time of the hybrid vehicle is at two hours. On the other hand, Mercedes-Benz revealed that the combined fuel consumption of the auto is at 2.1 liters per 62 miles.
The Mercedes-Benz C350e Plug-In Hybrid has four operating modes, namely: Hybrid, E-Mode, E-Save, and Charge.
