The History of the 1959 Mercedes-Benz Golden Angel Wing
According to the car’s sale listing, the 1959 Mercedes-Benz Golden Angel Wing is a remodeled 1959 Mercedes 220S. It was modified in the early 1980’s as a gift for a “prominent royal family”. After that, the new owner, being a great fan of Ali, decided that he should give it to his boxing hero.
For two years, Ali owned the car and was usually seen chauffeured in it during special events.
The ownership of the car after Ali was no longer mentioned, but currently, it can be found in Manteca Ford, a dealership in Manteca, California owned by Phil Waterford. It is expected to stay in its showroom before it goes under the hammer.
