Diamler Partner Fuso Posts 18% Sales Growth

In an industry where low single-digit sales bumps are trumpeted as significant gains, Fuso’s 18% sales growth cannot be described as anything less than stellar. Daimler’s Asian commercial vehicle subsidiary posted these figures as a result of selling 174,600 commercial vehicles last year. Fuso is planning 40 market launches this year to help propel it towards its “Fuso 2015” goal of selling 200,000 vehicles annually.
Outside its home country of Japan, Fuso sold almost 140,000 trucks and buses for a sales increase of 15%. Sales were strongly driven by the continued growth in Southeast Asia, as well as in the Near and Middle East and Africa. Southeast Asia, and Indonesia in particular, account for Fuso’s strongest market, accounting for about 68,000 trucks sold.
Said Dr. Albert Kirchmann, President and CEO of MFTBC and Head of Daimler Trucks Asia, “We closed last year successfully with a two-digit growth rate. With our growth program FUSO 2015, we aim for a medium-term sales target of 200,000 commercial vehicles per year.”
