FleetBoard Telematic System Allows Remote Vehicle Monitoring
Emmanuel P January 25, 2012Fleet management just became handier, literally, with Daimler’s release of the FleetBoard telematics system. With such a system, operators can monitor how their vehicles are being used, how many hours the drivers have been at the wheel, their buses’ fuel consumption and the drivers’ driving habits, which affect fuel consumption. It’s even possible to show the status of doors and loading ramps. This app, currently available for free, has been written for use with the iPhone or iPad devices.
Needless to say, the operator must have the FleetBoard system installed on their buses, with an active service contract in place. The FleetBoard system can be fitted to any Daimler bus or coach, or even onto a bus from a different manufacturer. Commented Markus Lipinsky, Managing Director of Daimler FleetBoard GmbH, “We have more than ten years’ experience of working with commercial vehicle fleets. Especially when diesel fuel prices are high, our customers appreciate the way in which FleetBoard can help make significant reductions in fuel consumption.”
