Ahead of the curve: Canadian sales

We have been hearing recently about numerous new and facelifted models coming for the 2009 model year, but Mercedes-Benz Canada has been going quietly about its business selling record numbers of 2008 models. The strength of the Canadian dollar, the ‘Loonie’, has enabled Benz to offer cash incentives and lower lease rates, although this is true for all manufacturers so these figures are still very impressive. Daimler US March Sales Numbers

Daimler AG has released March sales numbers its Mercedes Benz division. When looking purely at the numbers, Mercedes sold a bit less this year in March than last year (20,808 compared to 21,612 last year), if number of sales days are factored in (28 last year vs 16 this year), then Mercedes sales rose by 3.7%. The C-Class is still the most popular model in the Mercedes lineup, selling 4,486 cars, up by 49.6%. The E-Class sales fell by 24.4% to 3,039 vehicles. The smart fortwo sold 1,734 cars in march, bringing the total to 3,476 for the first part of the year.

smart Delivers 100,000th Unit All-new fortwo

The smart fortwo continues its string of successes. Since the end of March 2007, the new model of the innovative two-seater has been purchased by a total of 100,000 customers, representing a sales increase of more than 80 percent. Yesterday afternoon, Ulrich Kowalewski, director of the Mercedes-Benz Center Munich handed over the 100,000th second-generation smart fortwo to a 36-year-old customer in the recently re-opened smart Center Munich. Here in the US, the smart fortwo is slowly penetrating the market in the major US cities.
