Yesterday, we reported on the “SLC” spy shots, but most of the images that were taken showed nothing but a covered test vehicle in the desert. Today, Autoblog received some better pictures from the spies who probably waited the whole day in the California sun to bring us these images - respect. Now, this batch of pictures is clearly better than the previous, but unfortunately, due to the creative folks at Mercedes, we still can’t see anything. Actually what I see, other people have also noticed too, is that the test vehicle looks like a Viper. Almost everything reminds me of the Dodge Viper, including the long front nose, and even the back.
Another thing that made clear by these spy shots is that the car will have a front mounted engine, and not the mid-engine that everyone was talking about, probably with rear drive or an all wheel drive system. Check out the Autoblog Gallery

[...] This of course is nothing new, we have learned about the plan to bring back the Gullwing last year, but one thing that has not crossed my mind is that the car being tested in the desert right now is possibly the new 300SL Gullwing. What we are calling the SLC right now, and seeing something that looks like a Dodge Viper on the spy shots, is probably the 300SL Gullwing. [...]
