F1: Epic crash knocks out both Mercedes cars in lap 1 of Spanish Grand Prix

Well, that escalated quickly. Lap one of the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix saw a Mercedes on Mercedes crash, taking out the top two contenders in the season so far. This paved the way for Red Bull’s Max Verstappen to be the youngest race winner in Formula One history.  Right after the start, Hamilton was able to get ahead of Rosberg but the German managed to snag back the lead by turn 3. Lewis Hamilton appears to be on top of his game once more, thanks to a series of impressive victories that followed after his failure to finish at the Australian Grand Prix. Schumacher Gets 5-Place Penalty for Barcelona Crash

If you watched the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix last weekend, chances are you saw a disappointing end to Michael Schumacher’s race when his MGP W03 collided with the back of Bruno Senna’s Williams. Now, the verdict is out, and the race stewards have given Schumi the unpleasant reward of a 5-place grid penalty at the Monaco Grand Prix in two weeks. This penalty was given once the stewards reviewed the footage of the collision on lap 12 of the race and deemed it was caused by the German seven-time F1 champion for Mercedes AMG Petronas. Schumacher, Rosberg with Strong Showing in Friday Practice

It’s been a long wait for the resumption of Formula One action, but this weekend will bring a lot of excitement when the European leg of the 2012 season starts at Barcelona. Mercedes AMG Petronas delivered a strong showing in Friday practice, with both Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg building some momentum from the team’s testing at Mugello and then getting excellent results at the Circuit de Catalunya. Schumacher was great in Practice 1, notching sixth place at 1:25:187, while Rosberg was a mere 14th with 1:25:607.
