[DTM] Mercedes-Benz Scores Triple Victory Pending Audi Appeal

After 83 laps at the Norisring, Mattias Ekstrom was the first to cross the finish line. However, the apparent race-winner was excluded from the results by the stewards following an alleged violation of the DTM Sporting Regulations. In turn, Robert Wickens took home his first DTM race win and two other Junior Team drivers joined him on the podium. Completing the triple victory are Christian Vietoris, at second, and Daniel Juncadella, at third. Audi, however, will be appealing the stewards’ decision, so right now, this is a provisional result. [DTM] Wickens Claims First Career Podium

After a tough qualifying session, there was some light at the end of the tunnel for the Mercedes-Benz DTM team. Robert Wickens managed to claim his first podium finish in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters, climbing all the way from 13th on the starting grid all the way to P3 at the end of the race held at the historic Brands Hatch circuit. Gary Paffett was the guy who actually finished in P3, but he was slapped with a 5-second penalty after going past the speed limit in a sector during a yellow flag situation. STIHL to Sponsor Robert Wickens’ Mercedes AMG C-Coupe

Longtime Mercedes-Benz DTM team sponsor STIHL, a global manufacturer of chainsaws and other types of handheld power equipment, is shifting its involvement with the team. It’s now sponsoring its own car, the Mercedes AMG C-Coupe of Robert Wickens, which will be co-sponsored by GRIP – The Motor Magazine, a print publication that also has a TV show.
