Mercedes-AMG GT S Recalled by MBUSA

Mercedes-AMG recently announced that it is recalling around 135 units of its GT S. Affected models are those built with the 2016 model year or produced sometime between June 1 to July 24, 2015. According to Autoblog, the recall of the 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT S is due to a defect in the carbon-fiber driveshaft. The source said the issue stems from the adhesive bond along the driveshaft and the flange. The result of the problem is loss of power to the rear wheels. Mercedes-Benz Recalls 705,000 Units Due to Airbag Issues

Mercedes-Benz recalls some of its vehicles in the United States for air bag issues. According to NBC, around 705,000 units were affected by the recall. Based on the source, the vehicles covered by the move were equipped with air bags manufactured by Takata Corp. The problem with the said air bags is that they have the tendency to explode with deadly force. The Takata airbags have the risk of overinflating, which can shoot shrapnels to the passenger area when it pops out. Recalls Issued By Mercedes-Benz In The US

Two voluntary recalls will be issued by Mercedes-Benz in the United States, as shown on a report from autoevolution.com. The company has already notified the NHTSA of the planned recall. Eight hundred nine units will be affected by one recall while the second recall will affect 52 vehicles. The two recalls will start in January 2016 and the owners of the vehicles affected will be notified by Mercedes-Benz USA that their vehicles will be repaired for free. A press release of the company showed the issues did not result to accidents and no one was injured due to the potential issues. The recalls of Mercedes-Benz USA were announced on December 22. The first recall is for a number of Mercedes-Benz E350 as well as E350 4Matic luxury sedans with gas engines. It was necessary to repair units manufactured from June 4, 2014 up to July 9, 2014. The recall notification indicated that the fuel feed line of the affected vehicles featured a single protective flare fitting when it should have been given a double flare fitting. The recall announced by the luxury vehicle manufacturer was aimed at preventing possible fire hazards if a leak develops in the connection between the fuel feed line and the fuel hose or it becomes disconnected. While the risk of fire only emerges with the presence of an ignition source, there is also a risk of a possible crass and stall if the fuel line becomes disconnected and the engine shuts down. The second recall made by the company was for a number of 2015 S550 hybrid units. Fifty-two units are affected by the second recall. These vehicles were manufactured between April 24, 2015 and June 12, 2015. The high voltage chargers installed in these units were not the correct ones, which may result to improper function of the plug-in feature and may erroneously detect an inserted charging cable even as the vehicle is on the road. When a charging cable is erroneously detected, it may automatically shift the car into Park while the car is running at slow speeds. The risk of crashes will increase when the car is suddenly shifted into park. Luckily, none of the issues associated with the recalls resulted to any accidents.

Mercedes-Benz Recalls More Cars Due to Several Issues

A series of Mercedes-Benz recalls were once again announced. It was due to several models of the brand having a defective engine control unit (ECU) software, and having problems with the intakes. According to the press release of Mercedes-Benz USA, which was published through Autoblog, 3,813 units were covered in the latest recall. The recall was decided after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found out that some cars of certain manufacturing dates have the tendency to bring about a software error within the ECU. Daimler just announced that it will be recalling some of its Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans. According to MarketWatch, the move is to allow the company to replace the software of the vehicle that is related to its emissions. Based from the source, the company sent an estimated 11,000 letters to customers who bought Sprinter models. The document mentioned that the “emissions-relevant control units” of the vans will be getting enhanced software. A new Mercedes recall was set in motion once more. Last Monday, Daimler released a statement about a new recall involving its Mercedes-Benz cars.
