Mercedes Has No Plans for Changes in F1 Lineup Next Year

Niki Lauda, the non-executive chairman of Mercedes AMG Petronas, confirmed through an interview with Sky Sports that the team has opened talks for a multi-year extension with Lewis Hamilton’s contract. The Formula One legend revealed the deal would guarantee the Briton’s spot in the team for two or three more years after 2015. Then, the Austrian said he is positive the agreement will come to a fruition. When asked whether Mercedes has also opened its door to Fernando Alonso, Lauda was quick to deny the issue. Lewis Hamilton was reported “gobsmacked” after a post-race meeting with the people at Mercedes AMG Petronas. That’s because he allegedly learned that his clash with Nico Rosberg was premeditated. Quoting Hamilton’s interview with Sky Sports, BBC and other reporters in the aftermath of the recent Formula One race, he said, “We just had a meeting about it and he (Rosberg) basically said he did it on purpose. He said he did it on purpose.
