Daimler Trucks Growing its Business in Asia and Africa Through MFTBC and DICV

In order to get stronger results from its commercial vehicles division, Daimler has been working hard to establish itself in new growth markets, particularly in Asia and Africa. Key here is Daimler Trucks’ “Asia Business Model” that allows it to gain traction through ‘stronger bundling and optimization’ of operations within the region. Important facilities within the region are major contributors to the division’s growth. Among these facilities are the Kawasaki, Japan-based Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), as well as the Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) facility in Chennai, India. Daimler Trucks has a 2015 target of 500,000 units sold for that year, and a loftier 2020 target of… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz Dubs Euro VI-Compliant Truck Line the ‘A-Team’

In a recent media article, Mercedes-Benz referred to its new Euro VI-compliant heavy-duty truck line as the ‘A-Team’, which actually started in 2011. After continued refinements and constant development, the three truck models, the Actros, Antos, and Arocs (pictured), are now fully compliant with the emissions standard. That’s something that Daimler and Mercedes-Benz Trucks is counting on to further grow its Europe-leading 23 percent market share in 2012. Whether the ‘A-Team’ refers to the fact that the names of the trucks all start with an ‘A’ or to the fictional group of soldiers of fortune featured in a Mr. T-bannered TV series in the mid-80’s and in a 2010 film… Continue Reading »
