Mercedes-Benz India Introduces the Premium Segment with the New A-Class

Based on a report by The Hindu Business Line, Mercedes-Benz India will be entering the premium segment with the A-Class this coming summer. Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, said that although it would be the first time for the A-Class to hit the Indian market, it would be the refreshed version of the model. He stated that the move is aimed to go against the BMW X1. Starting next month until the rest of the year, the company will also be releasing the new GL, CLA, E-Class and the diesel type B-Class. Mercedes-Benz India Spikes Prices

According to the online report of The Hindu, an India-based publication, Mercedes-Benz India is looking to spike the prices of its units in the country by 1% to 3%. An official press release from the company stated that the increase will take effect on January 14 this year. Eberhard Ken, the Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India stated that they were forced to share a part of their financial burden to their customers due to the growing input cost, increase in interest rates, the unstable value of the Rupee versus the Euro and other related economic factors. New M-Class Launched in India

The third generation of the Mercedes-Benz M-Class SUV was launched recently in India, and it comes with exciting news that the vehicle will be priced some 15 percent less compared to the last iteration seen in the country. This allows the German automaker to be competitive with the prices offered by BMW and Audi for vehicles in the same segment. BMW has managed to leapfrog Mercedes-Benz for the lead in India’s luxury car market, and the latter is already at risk of losing the second spot to Audi.
