Steve Cannon Confirms a Mercedes-Maybach E-Class

It seems that the future looks bright for the Mercedes-Maybach as a lot of plans for it have been revealed just recently. Now, another range has been officially confirmed to receive the ultra-luxurious treatment from the sub-brand of the three-pointed star marque. According to Steve Cannon in his interview with Automotive News, they are also looking to make a Mercedes-Maybach E-Class. After the resurrection of the Maybach name as a sub-brand of Mercedes, it was confirmed that more vehicles will follow the ultra-luxurious Mercedes-Maybach S600. A Mercedes-Benz official revealed that we will likely see more variants of its latest Maybach lineup. The information came from Dr. Hermann-Joseph Storp, the development director for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, during his interview with Autocar at the 2014 Los Angeles Motor Show. Storp disclosed that they are planning to offer more engine variants for their current Mercedes-Maybach S600. He said that an engine downgrade is expected for the S600, meaning it will probably adopt the S550’s biturbo 4.7-liter V8 unit. A diesel version is also considered in the future. Word had been going around for quite some time now about the planned resurrection of the Maybach name. However, the brand will be demoted as a mere variant of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class this time. According to the people within the company, the Mercedes S-Class Maybach will have more luxurious features than the top-of-the-line S600 variant and S65 models.
