Lest you outdoor types think that the new M-Class is only good for the country club, here’s a Mercedes ad that shows us the rough and ready side of this capable luxury SUV. Fade out to a scene where the guy gets home and is welcomed by his young wife, wondering why he’s late. All is then explained when the rear hatch door is opened and we find the tree chopped up for firewood. Mercedes could have opted for the usual driving around the tree in off-road fashion but that’s too archetypal. This twist… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz recalling 102,954 M-Class models in U.S.

Mercedes-Benz has recalled 102,954 sport utility vehicles because of a defect that could cause a loss of power steering. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Mercedes M-Class SUVs from model years 1998 to 2003 are affected by this recall. The problem is with a clamp used to secure a cooling hose for power-steering systems on the vehicles, which may be too weak and not able to hold it properly. An earlier recall did not sufficiently fix the problem. The recall is scheduled to begin in October.
