Microsoft Joins the Car OS Wars

During the early week of this month at the Build conference, Microsoft unveiled its own car operating system concept. The car OS being developed by the multinational corporation founded by Bill Gates aims to compete with Apple’s CarPlay and Google’s Projected Mode project. On its preview, the audiences can’t help but compare it against Apple’s CarPlay because Microsoft’s car OS had striking similarities with it. Like its rival’s product, the car OS of Microsoft enables placing calls, sending messages, listening to music and viewing the vehicle’s diagnostics. Steve Teixeira of Microsoft’s development division noted though that safety is the primary concern of their OS. For instance, when the car is mobile,… Continue Reading »

The connectivity of vehicles with mobile devices and the Internet are crucial to their survival in the market. Daimler accidentally leaks Google Projected Mode

When Internet companies’ upcoming products get leaked, it’s usually through tech blogs, insiders, or marketing ploys intended to drum up interest. There really isn’t much that can be learned about this new Google software or technology, especially coming from a vague passage within a job ad. Still, it’s probably going to have to do with telematics. The timing is quite interesting, as Apple is set to unveil its… Continue Reading »

1957 Mercedes 300 SL Roadster Wins a Concours d’Elegance Award

The Concours d’Elegance is a French phrase meaning “competition of elegance”. It is an annual gathering of prestigious vehicles, which is a tradition that dates back to the 17th century France wherein nobles parade their prestigious horse-drawn carriages in the parks of Paris. But the age of automobiles has replaced the carts to elegant motorized vehicles. In the most recent Concours d’Elegance at Arizona Biltmore, the 1957 Mercedes 300 SL Roadster was able to bag the award as the best post-war Mercedes-Benz. Based on the photo released by Mercedes-Benz USA through Google+, the car definitely looks like a winner. It sports a glossy sky blue paint and specially-designed wheels with… Continue Reading »
