Special Light Tells People Whether Or Not A Mercedes-Benz Is On Drive Pilot

A planned update in Mercedes-Benz autonomous cars will let people know if it’s on Drive Pilot. The subtle change that adds turquoise-colored marker light will serve as an indication if the car is driving on its own. Mercedes-Benz announced that it just secured permits to use exterior marker lights in California and Nevada. The integration of the turquoise bars below the taillights, headlights, and side mirrors will tell people whether or not the SAE Level 3 automated driving system (ADS) of the car dubbed “Drive Pilot” is active. The Mercedes-Benz Vision AVTR unveiled early this year at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is indeed another very wild concept from the three-pointed star marque. AVTR stands for “Advanced Vehicle Transformation”, and it is also inspired by the movie “Avatar” released in 2009. According to Mercedes-Benz, the Vision AVTR represents a “new interaction between human, machine, and nature”. It adopts the palette of the Mercedes-Benz F015 Luxury in Motion and the Mercedes-Benz EQ Concept inside and out. Driverless Mercedes-Benz E-Class Given Permit To Be Tested In Nevada

Nevada lawmakers granted the Mercedes-Benz E-Class a test license for autonomous driving on public roads under normal traffic conditions, as shown on a report from autoevolution.com. The license essentially makes the E-Class as the first standard-production vehicle to run tests in the Nevada. However, it will be necessary to equip autonomous vehicles with specialized software and hardware, including specially-designed sensors, an adapted ESP and modified steering wheel, to allow them to be tested. The new E-Class may not need any of these add-ons since it already features intelligent technology and the only thing engineers need to do is to adjust the software used on the DRIVE PILOT control unit. Vision Tokyo Minivan Concept Teased By Mercedes-Benz

The Mercedes-Benz Vision Tokyo, which is essentially a minivan version of the F015 Luxury in Motion concept, was teased recently by the German luxury vehicle manufacturer, as shown on a report from worldcarfans.com. The concept vehicle is set to be officially unveiled during the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show from October 30 up to November 8.
