Bad luck befalls Mercedes at 2018 Austrian GP

There was no silver lining for the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team at the 2018 Austrian GP. Lewis Hamilton retired from the race with just eight laps to go, following loss of fuel pressure in his car. Coupled with Ferrari driver and title contender Sebastian Vettel finishing third, Hamilton will now be a point behind the title standings heading into the British Grand Prix in the next weekend. Max Verstappen won the race. The Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen followed in second place and the other Ferrari of Vettel rounded out the podium. Mercedes Unveils the Biggest Aero Upgrades in Their Formula One Cars

Brace yourselves because Mercedes AMG Petronas just revealed their biggest upgrades so far in the 2018 Formula One season. The team unveiled major enhancements in the aerodynamics of their Silver Arrows W09 cars. These prove that they are not slowing down as they approach the Austrian Grand Prix. Autosport recently got a closer look at the W09 cars at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Styria, Austria, and they noticed key changes on the side pods, mirror stalks and rear wings of the units. Hamilton wins 2016 Austrain GP; Rosberg finishes 4th for Mercedes

Lewis Hamilton took home the victory at the 2016 Austrian Grand Prix, fending off Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen. He has now won his third race out of the last four, cutting into the points lead of Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg once again. At the final lap, Rosberg was still actually in a position to win until he ran wide as he exited from turn 1. Hamilton pounced at the opportunity, but not after the two cars made contact. Rosberg had sparks coming out of his Mercedes, and he was visibly slowed down. Lewis passed him soon after and went on to the chequered flag. Hamilton leads another Mercedes front-row lockout in Austrian Grand Prix qualifying

Lewis Hamilton was at the head of yet another Mercedes AMG Petronas front-row lockout at the qualifying session for the 2015 Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg. Hamilton notched his 45th career pole position, including his seventh of this current season. In addition, this makes it 19 straight pole positions for Mercedes, dating back to last season’s Austrian GP. This also happens to be the sixth Mercedes front-row qualifying effort this season thanks to Nico Rosberg’s sixth front-row qualification. Both Mercedes drivers completed two runs each in all three qualifying runs, though they each spun when they were still trying to improve upon their Q3 times.
