Hamilton to open 2017 F1 season in pole position
Lewis Hamilton will be in pole position to kick off the 2017 F1 season. The Mercedes driver won a tight qualifying which saw Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel take P2 (with a time of 1:22.456) and new Silver Arrows driver Valtteri Bottas claim P3 (1:22.481). Hamilton clocked 1:22.188, a mere 0.268 ahead of Vettel, while Bottas was just a shade behind P2 with a 0.025 difference between himself and the Ferrari. The pole position is the 62nd of Hamilton’s career. He is in third on the all-time list, and he’s closing in fast on Ayrton Senna with 65. Michael Schumacher is at the top of that list with 68.
