A new model of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class is coming. The iconic SUV of the three-pointed star brand was just spotted in full camouflage while it was being tested, and photos of it emerged online.
According to a source, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class will undergo a full redesign. With the full camo of the SUV in the spy shots, it is still hard to tell its upgrades. However, the auto seems to retain its classic boxy shape. It could be noticed too that the unit appears to be wider than its existing model.
What is interesting in the spy photos is the appearance of what looks like a dual-cab pickup version of the G-Class. One of the spied units had a tailgate different than the standard design of the G-Class. The canopy in the rear appears to be makeshift too, which is probably a way to disguise the pickup. The G-Class pickup is rumored to be a 4×4.
Some of the photos also show a Mercedes-AMG variant of the G-Class. The unit is seen being being driven in snow.
The upcoming G-Class is expected to carry the new diesel-powered inline-six engine of Mercedes. The AMG versions of the vehicle might retain their V8 and V12 units though.
The new Mercedes-Benz G-Class will likely be launched 2017. The auto will most probably bear a 2018 model year.
