Solar Yellow Next-Gen Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe Spied Playing On Snowy Road

The automotive industry has been eagerly anticipating the next-generation Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe, and it seems like the wait is about to come to an end. Recently, a new spy video surfaced showing a solar yellow test car doing rounds on a frozen lake in Scandinavia, providing us with a quick look at the upcoming sports car. The footage confirms that the 2024 model will be powered by a V8 engine, which had been a topic of debate among enthusiasts.

Powertrain

The upcoming AMG GT is rumored to feature a 4.0-liter twin-turbo inline-four engine. It will be offered with and without mild hybridization. However, the prototype in the video certainly hints that it is a regular V8-powered car.

The distinctive growl of an eight-cylinder unit is very obvious here, leaving us with little doubt that an eight-cylinder engine in “hot V” will be available for the next-gen AMG GT. Nonetheless, there is still speculation about other powertrain options that may be offered.

While the V8 engine in this range may not come as a surprise, the real question is how much horsepower it will produce. The upcoming AMG GT may feature the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 from the AMG GT 63 S E Performance in its top trim unit, which could result in an output of over 800 horsepower.

Design

Judging from the spy video here, the 2024 AMG GT Coupe will likely keep most of its signature styling, but with a twist. The two-door car will now be offered with a 2+2 seating configuration for practicality’s sake. The other parts that will be getting overhauled include the headlamps, front grille, and lip spoiler.

World Premiere

There is no official debut date for the 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT yet, but it is expected to arrive in the second or third quarter of this year. It is likely to go on sale in the United States as a 2024 model, so car enthusiasts won’t have to wait too long to get their hands on the new sports car.
