A video released recently show why the Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4² is considered a special type of luxury vehicle, as shown on a report from carscoops.com. Mercedes-Benz USA was considering the idea of bringing the G500 4×4² into the market at limited numbers. Due to this, Drive brought a European model to Icon to let them check what they can find under the body of the luxury vehicle.
Heavy-duty portal axles were required in order to transform a standard model of the G500 into a 4×4² model. It was also necessary to use dual strut springs along with adjustable dampers that can be controlled from the cabin of the vehicle. The ground clearance of the G500 4×4² is at 450 millimeters or 17.7 inches while the fording depth can go as high as 1 meter or 39.4 inches.
The front and the rear tracks of the G500 4×4² were also increased by 299 millimeters or 11.8 inches. The power of the vehicle is provided by the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that is capable of producing 416 HP of power. This is more than enough to move the beat of a vehicle.
The boss of Icon, Jonathan Ward, checked the underside of the G500 4×4² and gave his observations on why this particular chassis was selected for the Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4². Check out the video to see what he had to say.
