Piecha Design just revealed its new tuning package for the Mercedes-AMG GT S. The launch of the product will not come until September 4, 2016, so the kit is still incomplete. However, the tuner promised that the program will give the car extra power plus new aerodynamic parts on the exterior.
A report said the tuning package retains the 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine of the Mercedes-AMG GT S. But with a couple of enhancements, Piecha Design promised that the car can achieve up to 612 hp and 619 lb-ft of torque from its original 503 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque output.
So far, Piecha Design hadn’t disclosed yet the details surrounding the engine upgrade. Therefore, we are yet to discover how the power increase was achieved and how the power boost will affect the zero to 60 mph sprint of the auto. However, the source estimated that given the standard output of the Mercedes-AMG GT S, which can cover the range in just 3.7 seconds, installing the tuning package might reduce the acceleration time of the car to 3.5 seconds.
The tuner mentioned that their package removes the speed-limiter of the Mercedes-AMG GT S. From the 193 mph electronically-limited top speed of the car, it is raised to 205 mph.
Together with the power upgrade is the installation of a spring kit lowering the suspension of the car by 0.98 inches in front and 0.39 to 1.18 inches in the rear. Wheel spacers are also placed measuring from 0.94 inches to 1.18 inches per axle.
Outside, Piecha Design puts new air splitters on the intakes and cup wings beneath. New carbon fiber sling blades, extended wheel arches and fixed rear spoiler are provided by the kit too. Lastly, the tuner tops it all off with a new set of 20-inch wheels.
