Next-Gen Mercedes-AMG GT E Performance Spied Testing In The Snow

Mercedes-Benz Group’s next-generation Mercedes-AMG GT was spotted again by spy photographers, and it looks like the car will come in a variety of choices. The new AMG GT appears to have a more aggressive design than its predecessor, with a bright shade of gray on the exterior, a fixed spoiler, and an aggressive rear diffuser. The wilder trim level of the car hints that we may be looking at the E Performance First Edition model of the revamped GT lineup.

Let’s dive deeper into what we know about the upcoming sports car based on the spy shots of Motor1 plus information we fished out so far from other news outlets and inside sources:

Exterior

The exterior of the next-gen AMG GT is sharp and aggressive. The sides of the car are virtually camo-free, and the color appears to be similar to Alpine Gray from the automaker’s Manufaktur selection.

The front fascia features AMG’s signature Panamericana grille but with a more complex lower grille this time around. It features vertical slats on the corners of the fascia. The lower fascia suggests that the car in question is in no way an entry-level AMG GT, as it has vertical gills that function as pillars for the grille.

Meanwhile, the back of the car has a fixed spoiler and an aggressive rear diffuser between the quad exhaust outlets that further indicate the higher positioning of the car in the three-pointed star marque’s AMG GT hierarchy.

Interior

We don’t have any official information about the interior of the new AMG GT yet, but we can assume it will be a luxurious and high-tech space carrying the latest displays and a more advanced version of the MBUX infotainment system. We can look forward to high-end Artico/Nappa leather upholstery, sport seats, and an advanced infotainment system within.  There huge probability that it will mirror the cockpit layout of the latest AMG SL.

Likewise, the car might adopt a driver-oriented cockpit with a sporty steering wheel and paddle shifters. Since the AMG GT is a sports car, the interior may be focused on the driving experience rather than luxury and comfort.

Tech

The new AMG GT will likely be loaded with advanced tech features, having nothing less than the latest version of the MBUX infotainment system on board. Mercedes is known for its cutting-edge technology, and the model will be no exception.

Alongside the MBUX system is a plethora of apps for driving, entertainment, connectivity, and navigation. These will definitely include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a premium audio system, and advanced driver assistance elements. The car may also arrive with a heads-up display on top of its digital instrument cluster.

Powertrain

The new AMG GT is expected to come in multiple trim levels, and we may see different powertrains for each version. The prototype caught by spy photographers could be an S E Performance First Edition model, potentially packing an improved plug-in hybrid powertrain sourced from the four-door Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance. The hybrid powertrain partners a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 with an electric motor for a combined 831 horsepower and over 1,000 pound-feet of torque output.

The AMG GT will be offered in other guises in addition to the one featured here. The base variant of the range may be the AMG GT 43.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the new Mercedes-AMG GT looks like it will be an exciting sports car with sharp styling, a luxurious interior, advanced tech features, and powerful performance. We don’t have an official release date yet, but we can expect the car to debut in the next few months possessing a 2024 model-year badge.
