MKB recently made a successful heart transplant to the Mercedes-Benz GL. By that, we mean the tuner replaced the engine of the SUV to raise its power significantly.

The Mercedes GL lineup only offers the V6 and V8 engines up to its range-topping model, which is the Mercedes GL 63 AMG. According to Evocars Magazine, MKB took a GL 500 model and gave it a power upgrade. As mentioned above, the enhancement was not only limited to reconfiguring the existing engine of the SUV. Instead, the tuner replaced its V8 engine with a V12.

So from the 4.7-liter biturbo V8 engine of the GL 500 packed with around 429 hp and 700 Nm of torque, it was given a 6.0-liter biturbo V12 engine with a massive output amounting to 670 hp and an astonishing torque of 1,200 Nm.

It should be noted that the output of the MKB Mercedes-Benz GL 500 is even more than the range-topping Mercedes GL 63 AMG equipped with a 5.5-liter biturbo engine producing 557 hp and 760 Nm torque.

The source said the new power unit enables the SUV to sprint from a complete standstill to 100 km/h in just a span of 4.4 seconds. Again, that is more than the 4.9 seconds 0-100 km/h acceleration of the GL 63 AMG.

As for the top speed of the car, the report claimed it could reach an electronically-limited run of up to 270 km/h. Of course, to compensate for the awesome power of the vehicle, the tuner imbued it with 380 mm ceramic brake discs.

Interested customers who would want to replace the V6 or V8 engines of their Mercedes GL units with the V12 offered by MKB should be prepared to shell out at least 258,905 euros, stated the article.
