Mercedes G-Class Landaulet Caught In A Spy Video

The Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet certainly had some of us scratching our heads over how ridiculous it was. And just when we thought that we had seen the last of the G-Class Landaulet when its 99th unit was finally rolled out, here comes a camouflaged version of it. Recently, it was spotted on the road by one of the renowned Mercedes spymasters on YouTube, walkoARTvideos.

What We Know So Far

In the recent video posted by the source, we can see a fully-camouflaged G-Class landaulet parked just beside the upcoming EQG. From the angles of the shots, the successor to the Maybach G650 Landaulet appears to be keeping its electronically-foldable rear roof. It also sports revised portal axles and extended wheel arches.

Strange enough, it looks like it is still carrying the headlamps of the outgoing G-Class instead of the ones found on the EQG. At this point, we have no idea what the ultra-luxury division of the three-pointed marque has in store for the next version of the G-Class Landaulet. It’s possible that there may be more than what meets the eye here, and some upgrades may be introduced as the development of the vehicle in question progresses.

Recap of the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet

The landaulet based on the G-Class was only limited to 99 units and it was only offered in its Maybach G650 guise back in 2017. Basically, it combined the off-road capabilities of the Mercedes-Benz G500 4×42 with the opulence that Maybach is known for plus the option for an open-air ride for the rear passengers.

Within the heart of the Maybach G650 Landaulet beats a powerful 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine capable of producing up to 630 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. These are estimated to propel the auto from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.3 seconds while its top speed is capped at 112 mph.
