As mentioned moments ago, there had been an investigation regarding the tyres of Mercedes-AMG Petronas. According to Sky Sports, the stewards already ruled out any wrongdoing by the leading team in Formula One. Thus, the victory of Lewis Hamilton at the Italian Grand Prix stands.
In Lap 49, Hamilton was already cruising comfortably for the win by more than 20 seconds. But he was suddenly told by the team to speed up. It turned out officials that time were looking for a possible tyre pressure infringement on the part of the team.
Based on the report, an FIA technical delegate found that the minimum pressure on the left rear tyre of Hamilton was 0.3 PSI below the requirements. On the other hand, Nico Rosberg’s car was also 1.1 PSI below the minimum starting mark.
After a thorough probe on the matter, the investigating panel determined that Mercedes F1 team acted appropriately on the issue. Therefore, Hamilton’s points on the event were retained.
Quoting the interview of the concerned official with the source, the person stated:
In making this determination regarding the pressures, the stewards noted that the tyre warming blankets had been disconnected from their power source, as is a normal procedure, and the tyres were significantly below the maximum permitted tyre blanket temperature at the time of the FIA’s measurement on the grid; and at significantly different temperatures from other cars measured on the grid.”
With the recent win of Hamilton, he is once again getting closer to clinching his next world title. He is currently 53 points ahead of Rosberg.
