Mercedes F1 Celebrates Petronas’ 50th Anniversary With New Livery

  • Mercedes F1 unveiled a new petrol green design in front of its Silver Arrow race cars.
  • The new design honors the team’s long-standing partnership with Petronas.
  • The Malaysia-based oil and gas company celebrates its 50th anniversary this week.

Mercedes-AMG just unveiled a new livery for its W15 E Performance Formula 1 car. The petrol green front covering the front wing and side pods commemorates the 50th anniversary of its racing partner, Petronas.

Mercedes F1 Honors Partnership with Petronas

Team Principal Toto Wolff acknowledged that Petronas has been Mercedes’ longest-standing partner. He assured that the collaboration between the two remains strong.

As proof of their dedication to each other, Wolff noted that the new car design reflects the importance of Petronas in the team. It also honors their special journey together.

Meanwhile, drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell expressed the same level of enthusiasm as their boss. The Mercedes F1 drivers echoed the same praises Wolff has given toward Petronas.

Coming in Hot for the Singapore GP

Mercedes F1’s dominance has waned since it lost the Drivers’ Championship in 2021 and the Constructors’ Championship in 2022. Both losses marked the start of Max Verstappen and Red Bull’s reign in the two categories, respectively.

Russell comes in hot following his podium finish at the third place in Azerbaijan last week. Meanwhile, Hamilton’s last podium went all the way back at the end of July with a win in Belgium.

Nevertheless, the drivers said that there’s no better way to honor their alliance with the Malaysia-based company than to give it their best shot at the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix, as it’s the race closest to Petronas’ home. Despite being busy at the upcoming race, the key personalities within Mercedes F1 are expected to grace the company’s celebrations in Kuala Lumpur this weekend.
