The Mercedes-Benz V-Class is just “meh” in its stock configuration. It only gets exciting when it is tuned for SEMA or turned into an RV. However, the people at GAD Motors found out that its engine bay is big enough to house AMG’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, and that’s where this story gets more interesting.
Recently, GAD installed a handcrafted AMG M117 engine in the van to boost its output from 190 hp to 585 hp. It’s the same unit possessed by the AMG C 63, E 63, GT 63, and G63. Then it received carbon-ceramic brakes to improve its braking, especially at high speeds. The suspension system of the auto was also modified to support the additional weight from the new power unit, and it was given a new exhaust.
The tuner brought the vehicle on the race track to test its mettle against some exotic cars. At a glance, the V-Class is just the same as its fresh from the factory appearance. Only looking closer will reveal some badges that boast its new V8 engine.
It’s quite amusing seeing the V-Class go against the likes of the BMW M5, McLaren 720S, Mercedes-AMG GT, and Chevrolet Corvette C6. Despite that, the van really put up a good show.
This Mercedes-Benz V-Class AMG is definitely perfect for soccer moms rushing to get their kids to their next game or trying to catch the latest deals in their favorite shops.
