Mercedes-Benz recently launched the all-new G 580 with EQ Technology, a groundbreaking addition to the iconic G-Class series established in 1979. The new model combines a traditional design with state-of-the-art features to set the bar in the electric luxury SUV market.
Powertrain
The G 580 possesses a 116 kWh high-voltage lithium-ion battery integrated into the ladder frame to provide a low center of gravity and a remarkable range of up to 473 kilometers. A durable, torsion-resistant casing safeguards the battery against water and dirt intrusion, while underbody protection made from a blend of materials, including carbon, shields it from physical impact.
The electric G-Class boasts four individually controlled motors near the wheels, delivering a maximum total output of 432 kW and a torque of 1,164 Nm, providing exceptional performance on and off-road.
Off-Road Capabilities
The all-new electric G-Class introduces unique off-road driving functions, including G-TURN, G-STEERING, and an intelligent off-road crawl function, enhancing the vehicle’s adaptability to challenging terrains. This innovative model also features virtual differential locks through torque vectoring, ensuring exceptional off-road performance and maneuverability.
Enhanced Driving Experience and Safety Standards
The G-ROAR sound experience, exclusive to the electric G-Class, includes a G-Class-specific driving sound, an “aura,” and various “event” sounds, revolutionizing the auditory experience of driving. Furthermore, the vehicle’s aerodynamics and interior aeroacoustics are optimized with a slightly raised bonnet, new A-pillar trim, spoiler lip on the roof, and “air curtains” in the rear wheel-arch flares.
The advanced MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system, a 31.2-centimeter (12.3-inch) driver, and a media display with touch controls come standard, providing a seamless and technologically advanced driving experience. Additionally, advanced safety and assistance systems are incorporated to support drivers, ensuring a safe and reliable driving experience.
