The Mercedes-Benz Unimog once again received a certification proving its effectiveness and efficiency as a transport vehicle. According to Daimler, the U 530 model of the truck recently received the stamp of approval of DLG (German Agricultural Association).
The source said the agricultural version of the Unimog U 530 underwent the 2016 PowerMix test conducted by DLG where it passed with flying colors. As a result, the truck now carries the “DLG-approved 2016” seal similar to the one pictured below.
The testing number of the Unimog was DLG is 2015-00697. The testers gave the truck an excellent mark in terms of its suitability as a working vehicle for farmers and contractors. The test involved putting the truck under real-life conditions. The testing proved that the Unimog U 530 provides a cost-effective solution particularly for transport jobs.
The Unimog U 530 carries with it a powerful OM 936 engine. The unit offers a 299 hp output and 1,200 Nm of torque. It is partnered with an eight-speed reversing transmission gearbox, which allows up to 24 gear ratios for transport and heavy-duty work. The truck weighs around 16.5 tonnes. However, can haul stuff weighing up to 40 tonnes.
The other factor that contributed to the outstanding result of the DLG PowerMix test test was the hydraulic-power take-off units for implement operation of the vehicle.
In a nutshell, the DLG test only puts into consideration three elements of the auto that it assesses. The evaluation studies the transport capabilities, power-take-off shaft and the hydraulic implement work of the truck.
