In case you missed it, Mercedes-Benz unveiled two new models at this year’s Moscow International Auto Salon. The S 65 AMG Coupé (pictured) and S 600 Guard were unveiled to fans for the first time, showcasing luxury in two distinct segments.
Performance and individuality are the name of the game with the 2015 S 65 AMG Coupe, hyped by Mercedes-Benz exec Ola Kallenius as ‘the best vehicle meeting the most sophisticated demands’ of the company’s customers. The rear-wheel drive car comes with a 6.0L twin-turbo V12 at 621 hp, so there’s no shortage when it comes to power. It takes a mere four seconds to go from zero to 60mph, with a top speed pegged at 186mph. That’s backed by a seven-speed automatic gearbox, lightweight tech, and a stop-start system for the engine.
The armored S 600 Guard is all about luxury, like all other S-Class models, but it comes with added protection that can withstand even M60 machine gun fire. Thickened glass windows, underbody plating, reinforced air springs, larger brake rotors, and reprogrammed electronics round out a suite based on the W222 S-Class platform. Oh, and the twin-turbo V12 engine rated at 530 horsepower is no slouch on the road, either.
The German automaker also introduced another two models to the Russian market. Getting their Russian launches were the CLS 63 AMG 4MATIC four-door coupe as well as the GLA 45 AMG 4MATIC compact sport utility vehicle.
All in all, the Mercedes-Benz showing at the 2014 Moscow International Automobile Salon included a whopping 33 models. That included the whole portfolio, from 10 AMG units to variants of Mercedes-Benz’s passenger vehicles from A-Class all the way to the all-new V-Class. There’s even a smart fourjoy concept thrown in the contingent that makes this the second-biggest Merc booth at an auto show ever.
