Mercedes-Benz GLC Will Be Unveiled on June 17

We are just a few days away from the official unveiling of the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC. According to a report from Digital Trends, the new SUV will be introduced on June 17. But the premiere won’t be happening in any auto shows. Instead, it will be shown online.

The design of the new GLC may no longer come as a surprise to everyone because spy photos and videos of the SUV have been circulating online already. The latest spy shot of the auto, which can be seen above, shows pretty much everything that we can expect from it. All except the lighting system and bumpers, which are still wrapped in a camouflage.

It should be noted that the GLC is the successor of the GLK. Comparing the two, the GLC appears to be more curvaceous than the boxier GLK. The restyling was made for the SUV to mirror the fascia of the latest C-Class. Then its overall frame reflects much of the new GLE’s features. In other words, let’s just say the GLC is the downsized version of the GLE.

The GLC will also carry over the same engine options found in the existing C-Class. Its entry model will be equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an output of 241 hp and 229 lb-ft of torque. Look forward to a V6 version along the way too, plus a range-topping variant—the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63—housing the engine of the Mercedes-AMG GT. It is possible that the SUV will have a plug-in hybrid unit as well in the future.
