- The Mercedes-Benz EQS electric vehicle (EV) is getting a major upgrade for the 2025 model year.
- The updates come in the form of a new fascia and increased electric range.
Mercedes-Benz just unveiled a couple of important improvements in its flagship electric sedan, the EQS. The non-fuel-guzzling counterpart of the S-Class will feature a larger battery with more range, a more sophisticated front grille, and new optional add-ons.
More Range for the 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS
Mercedes is upping the ante with the EQS by equipping it with a new battery pack, providing an increased capacity of 118 kWh from the current one’s 108.4 kWh. This offers an 11% boost in the range of the model.
With that, the base Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ will get an 822-kilometer (510.77-mile) range from its current iteration’s 683 km (424.4 mi). This is enhanced by the new regenerative braking software of the auto for more efficient energy recuperation. The numbers help solidify its place as the top EV in the world in terms of distance covered at full charge.
The more powerful unit of the car also allows it to tow up to 1,700 kilograms (3747.86 pounds) from its former 750 kg (1,653.47 lbs) capacity. That’s about the same capacity offered by SUVs today.
New Persona of the 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS
The EQS is about to get a new look with its new front grille with horizontal slats highlighted by its standing three-pointed star emblem, which is a callback to the Mercedes of old. It is complemented by chrome louvers, which perfectly contrast the dim back panel of the grille and the shell of the sedan, especially the obsidian black variant shown in the gallery below. Additionally, it is equipped with an AMG Line bumper to bump up its flair.
The same exhilarating styling is applied to the cabin of the car with its chrome linings on the dash and comfort pillows at the rear with Nappa leather piping with contrasting stitching patterns. Of course, the comfort and elegance of the EV’s interior can still be upped with its different trim levels as well as the optional Executive Interior Package feature.
The optional add-on lets the rear passengers recline their seats up to 38 degrees. What’s more, it allows the front passenger seat to be folded and pushed further forward for better legroom of the passenger adjacent to it.
Other Notable Features
Standard in the EQS since its 2024 model is the MBUX Hyperscreen with three screens stretching all over the dash and merging seamlessly with each other. The curved band of the screen measures 55 inches wide.
The EV is also fitted with a heat pump for climate comfort and efficiency plus a Disconnect Unit (DCU) in the 4MATIC versions that lets the sedan switch to 4×2 at lower loads.
Arrival of the 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS in Dealerships
The exact date of the 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS’ arrival in US dealerships is yet to be finalized, but its maker confirmed it would be “later in 2024.” The pricing is yet to be announced, too.
