Mercedes-Benz E-Class Receives Environmental Certificate

mercedes-benz e-class
The Mercedes-Benz E 220 d is the most fuel-efficient and has the lowest emission rating in the E-Class range.

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class does not only embody a stunning styling and pretty decent performance for a luxury car, it is also packed with innovations of its time. Daimler refers to it as its most intelligent executive saloon.

Recently, the South German Technical Inspection Authority ran extensive tests in the car. They found out that it has an exemplary Life Cycle Assessment or LCA. Therefore, as of last week, it was revealed by Daimler that the E-Class got an Environmental Certificate in accordance with the ISO Directive 14062.

The E 220 d is the most environmental-friendly model in the range. Based on its maker, the auto only has an NEDC consumption of 3.9 liters per 100 kilometers or 102 grams of carbon dioxide emission per kilometer. The value used to be possible only for smaller vehicles, but Mercedes had successfully integrated the feature to the mid-sized E-Class sedan.

Daimler attributes the efficiency of the E-Class to its new compact four-cylinder engine, need-dependent energy management, 9G-TRONIC nine-stage automatic transmission, aerodynamic features, and lower weight than its predecessor.

Furthermore, the parent of Mercedes boasts that the E 220 d is very friendly to the environment from its manufacturing up to its recovery phase. During the time the car’s materials are being manufactured until the time the auto is being assembled, plus driven up to 250,000 and recycled, it only produces a total of 36 tonnes of CO2 emissions. The number is 15 tonnes lower than the previous E 220 d model.
