Mercedes-AMG Presents the S 65 AMG and SLS AMG GT FINAL EDITION

If only one could be in two places at once. Mercedes AMG will be showcasing its latest high-performance models in two simultaneous motor shows. It’s a spectacle sure to delight car enthusiasts all over the world, as the S 65 AMG takes the stage side by side with the SLS AMG GT FINAL EDITION at the Los Angeles Auto Show and at the Tokyo Motor Show.

According to Mercedes-AMG board chair Tobias Moers, the two models stand for “the spectacular next level” of the Mercedes-Benz high-performance division’s model line.

The Mercedes-Benz S 65 AMG is sure to set hearts aflutter, thanks to a V12 heart that beats to the tune of 630 horsepower and 1000 Nm of torque, figures that put the model in an unparalleled class. Top speed is pegged at 250kph and it takes 4.3 seconds for the car to go from 0 to 100kph.

The S 65 AMG comes with a load of features, technology, and equipment, not the least of which include improved fuel consumption, an AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC transmission, and an innovative lithium-ion battery that takes the place of the starter and backup batteries.

The name of the SLS AMG GT FINAL EDITION itself stands for exclusivity and finality, which is precisely what the model offers. Only 350 units will be made of this limited-edition vehicle, and it’s basically the last shot for those of you who have been keen on getting an SLS AMG unit.

It sports a 6.3-liter front-mid V8 engine that churns out a whopping 591 horsepower, allowing it to adequately put a close to this model line’s story. Ah, it truly is the end of an era, but it was definitely a great run by the SLS AMG.

While it would suck for prospective buyers if the SLS AMG line were to be revived somewhere down the road, we wouldn’t hold it against Mercedes-Benz, either.

Both the LA Auto Show and the Tokyo Motor Show are slated to run from November 20 through December 1.
