A couple of days ago, the YouTube channel of TheBayAreaRacing shared a drag race between a Mercedes-AMG GT S and a Jaguar F-Type R. It’s a battle of two V8-powered cars. A car resulting from the ingenuity of British engineering versus German engineering. So which one won in the contest?
First, let’s look at the tale of the tape:
Jaguar F-Type R
The Jaguar in the video is equipped with its stock engine and it retained its configuration. In the engine bay of the car sits a 5.0-liter V8 engine with an output of 550 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque.
The resulting zero to 60 mph sprint of the car is 3.5 seconds. Then its maximum speed is at 188 mph.
Mercedes-AMG GT S
The stock configuration of the 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine of the Mercedes sports car is 503 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. The unit allows the auto to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just three seconds with a maximum speed of 193 mph, thanks to its lighter armor compared to the Jaguar.
The F-Type R, holds a lot of advantage over the product from AMG just by looking at its power. However, the ECU of the Mercedes-AMG GT S in the video has been given a Stage 2 tuning from HG Motorsports. In addition, it was given new filters, among others.
The resulting output of the GT S was not mentioned in the video.
