Facelifted Mercedes-AMG GT Production Starts in Sindelfingen

After the dramatic launching of the facelifted Mercedes-AMG GT, Mercedes-Benz finally greenlights its production at the company’s Sindelfingen plant in Germany.

The new AMG GT is now produced alongside the Mercedes-Benz S-Class , E-Class, CLS, GLA and Mercedes-Maybach cars. Vehicles under the Mercedes-Benz EQ range will also be assembled there.

Daimler said that 250 vehicles are being delivered everyday to the Mercedes-Benz Customer Center in Sindelfingen. The plant employs over 25,000 people.

The facelifted AMG GT features the Panamericana grille on its fascia, which is a tribute to the old race cars of Mercedes in the post-war era, particularly the 300SL in the 50’s. The car also gets elements that improve its aerodynamics and enhanced LED high-performance headlamps. These are topped off by light-alloy wheels that go from 19 to 20 inches.

Going inside the AMG GT reveals its surfaces covered in high-quality Nappa leather. Furthermore, the fully-digital instrument cluster of the auto is highlighted by a 10.2-inch display.

The new base trim of the AMG GT possesses a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine. The unit produces 350 kW and 630 Nm of torque. The power is distributed via an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7G transmission system.

The setup allows for the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in only four seconds. Meanwhile its top speed is electronically-limited to 304 km/h.

Not that it matters much, but the fuel consumption of this high-performance car is 12.4 l/100 km. On the other hand, its carbon dioxide emission is pegged at 284 g/km.
